Female Voice Talent
Show business is tough, whether you're a male or female voice talent. Once you make the decision to throw in with the ranks of hopeful and prospective voice actors, you must have a sound understanding of how the industry works. While there's certainly demand for voiceover work, only those voice actors, like female voice talent Janet Ault, who maintain a focus on long term commitment, succeed. Male and female voice talent should put a high priority on learning and improving their skills, landing audition opportunities, and growing as a professional. Expecting to get rich and famous fast is not a realistic expectation or goal.
Some female voice talent may opt to sign with an agent. A good agent will do some marketing, although the lion's share of promotion will fall upon you. Agency marketing for male and female voice talent consists mostly of sending a house demo around to potential clients where you will be asked to provide a short clip to be included with other agency clients. The agent's primary role involves responding to calls for jobs and negotiating contracts.
Female voice talent needs to learn to be comfortable about initiating a cold call. It is one of the most effective methods of contacting people. Do be sure to pre-screen your contacts in order to maximize effectiveness. Don't spend your time trying to solicit work from people who aren't in the market for a voiceover actor. One of the first things you should ask is whether the company produces or has need for your particular services. After all, if they only do male voiceovers and you're a female voice talent, you should learn this immediately so you can move on. If they are a suitable prospect, ask for the name and contact information of the Producer, Creative Director, or Production Manager. Be sure to get the correct spelling of their name, address, and email, then follow-up and ask whether they are willing to consider your demo.

"Janet Ault is our go-to talent. She has a friendly, inviting voice that is clear and professional, but REAL. She gets it done and she gets it done right the first time. I love talent I don't have to edit!"
